In racing, there are a million ways for things to go awry. Maybe it’s not your horse’s day; maybe he gets caught up in a speed duel and has nothing left. Maybe a slow pace compromises his chances to close. And sometimes, as in this tale, it’s pilot error. Here, filmmaker Jeff Krulik and John Scheinman visit with Bill Boniface, of Bonita Farm, who bred and trained Deputed Testamony, the last Maryland-bred winner of the Preakness. He also stood Go for Gin, seen here, at stud.
